Household textiles

With its comprehensive testing services and certification schemes for household and domestic textiles, the Hohenstein Institute supports manufacturers and (specialist) in developing and marketing high-quality products such as bedding, bed-linen, towels, upholstery fabrics etc.

For example, for pillows, blankets and mattresses, we can use various test procedures to help you objectively to identify the comfort characteristics of a product or produce design guidelines for the different applications (summer/winter) and different user groups for bedding. Thanks to the Hohenstein Quality Label, the physiological parameters that are analysed can also be directly endorsed on the article in question as a " sleep comfort vote " .

The well-known Hohenstein laboratories for down and feather analysis also offer all kinds of services for the international market, with the capability to analyse both the filling and casing materials, as well as the complete product. The test under international and national standards and regulations include identifying the composition of the mixed materials and the type of feather, the density of the casing material, filling capacity and the air permeability and microbiological status.

Other services for household and domestic textiles include testing for harmful substances in accordance with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and various tests to assess the quality of the materials and performance . More specific laboratory tests such as testing children's bedding for their flame-retardant capability or analysing the fibre migration in synthetic blankets round off our range of services.
